Cerulean is a film production studio based in Nashville, Tennessee. We tell stories both big and small, all of them true.

Cerulean was founded by director Joe Gomez and producer Vanita Joines who are partners both in filmmaking and in life. The studio has produced a variety of motion projects ranging from documentaries, short films, artist visuals and branded content.

Cerulean’s original productions have often turned their camera on artists and makers who are dedicated to the work of creativity, no matter their field or expertise. The Labor of Love series highlights individual artists who wrestle with the question: When do you know when you’re done? Cerulean’s documentary about the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra originated from Joe and Vanita’s shared interest in music, as well as their yearning to celebrate ordinary people whose passions lead to art and community.

Cerulean creates environments where the crew quickly become friends, and documentary subjects are immediately put at ease. Curiosity and compassion are what drive Joe and Vanita to seek and tell all kinds of stories. Cerulean aims to keep telling these human-centered stories, both locally and globally.
